STANARDSVILLE, Va. (January 10, 2017) – Renaissance Assisted Living and The Harbor at Renaissance of Greene County are partnering with Hope for Appalachia in preparing “Hope Boxes” for disadvantaged children in Southeastern Kentucky and Southwestern Virginia.

Hope for Appalachia is a collaborative group of churches, businesses and individuals that deliver boxes to the children of these poverty-stricken areas. Teams based in North Carolina and Virginia each coordinate an annual trip to these impoverished areas in Kentucky and Virginia to deliver the boxes.

Team members, residents and family members of Renaissance Assisted Living and The Harbor are all pitching in to put together at least 50 boxes to send to the disadvantaged children in need.

“It breaks my heart to see these impoverished areas of Kentucky and Virginia that are in dire need of warm clothes, food and supplies. We are so excited to have the opportunity to partner with this organization to benefit these children in need. As we fill these boxes, we pray peace and comfort over each child that will receive a box,” Liesa Dodson, marketing director of Renaissance Assisted Living and The Harbor at Renaissance, said.

The Hope Boxes, about the size of a shoebox, are filled with supplies such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, socks, warm clothes, school supplies and toys.
